Traumatic Diaphragmatic Hernia

Abstract
Three cases of traumatic diaphragmatic hernia were observed in the Department of Radiology, Chonnam University Hospital, Kwangju, Korea from April, 1962 to October 1969. They were diagnosed correctly by roentgenological studies and confirmed by operation.
The etiological factors, frequent site, and roentgenological findings of traumatic diaphragmatic hernia are reviewed and its roentgenological differential diagosis from eventuration of diaphragm is also discussed.
Mechanism of development of a large alveolar cyst in Case II, 35 year old male and gastric volvulus in Case III, 48 year old male are discussed.
It is felt that traumatic diaphragmatic hernia could occur more frequently in future in our country because of increasing automobiles and increasing mechanical works in the factories, and that complete physical examinations including roentgenological studies should be performed with special attention to the patient from the traffic accidents and other traumas to rule out diaphragmatic hernia.
